A Boy is.....

A Boy is noise with dirt on it. ~ Author unknown

Whoever wrote this quote should have said:

A Boy is noise with a black eye, banged up knees, scraped elbows and dirt on it.

Here is not the first and not the last of our black eyes (ok its not black yet, but it will be):

My little guy is ALL BOY! I love him!

Gumdrop's many faces and ramblings from her Mom

I know I'm not doing a very good job of blogging. I have been really busy with the taking care of three kids and all that being a housewife entails. Laundry, dishes, housework, making our meals, entertaining children, and running around take up our days. I'm tired and happy. I put alot of pressure on myself for everything to be perfect. I know that it is just not going to be but I have a hard time coming to terms with that. My house will never be perfectly clean. I will forever be in my work out clothes because I couldn't manage to work out (and don't even get me started on my exercise guilt) AND get a shower during nap time. I grab Chick-fil-a too much. This is my life and I'm glad to be living it, perfect or not.

That being said, I feel guilty when I don't update the blog enough. My grandmother checks this often and I tell myself that I do this for her. But I'm not sure that's really true. A friend of a friend has a blog. She gave up blogging for awhile because she was trying to figure out if she blogged because she wanted people to like her. I had an Oprah, "Aha!" moment. Is that why I blog? Why am I doing this? Does anyone read this, or am I wasting my time? Does it matter if anyone reads it? I would write this all down for myself anyway. Anyway, I've decided not to put so much pressure on myself. With this blog OR the Midland Morsels blog. MM started out as an idea that several friends would contribute and it wouldn't be too time consuming. I would say I write 90% of the posts. Thats not a big deal (and don't be offended if you are a fellow contributor:)) but it takes time. I set it up so I feel like its my responsibility. I really enjoy doing both blogs but I'm going to relax. We will still be here but we just might not share every little detail from now on. I leave you with the many faces of Baby Gumdrop......enjoy!

Three Things

My Boy:
"Dad, I've got a project. I'm going to need three things: some superglue, a chainsaw, and some birdseed."

Lollipop:
After going to see Kung Fu Panda 2 yesterday and telling her daddy the entire plot, he gave her a thumbs up when she was telling him about the "evil Peacock."

"No daddy, Shen was the bad guy. Not thumbs up, BOO!"

And then last night before bed she asked her daddy for a drink of water. He came into our room and said,

Lollipop:"Daddy, when you get me water please get it from the fridge and not from the sink. It tastes disgusting from the sink. But thank you for getting it for me, it was delicious."

Getaway

We headed for the hills last weekend.....literally! We stayed a few nights at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. It was wonderful. We had a great time playing in the sun, eating s'mores, and spending time together. I very much needed this little break from cooking, dishes, cleaning, and carpooling. I turned a year old while we were away. I am so excited for the next year of my life!

Can't think of a better way to spend a birthday--- Holding my wish upon a star while she sleeps!
Swimming the day away
Yes, they really do love each other. Remind me of this tomorrow when the fighting begins!
"Duck-orating" for the Saturday morning duck race.
The lifeguard catching the ducks at the end of the race in the lazy river.
This one slipped out of order :)
Wow! These things are really cool! If I pull on them do you think he will notice?
In line for the waterslide.....I think they rode it about 100 times!
Watching the people we love most! Can't wait to go back again!

10 months!

I have been very diligent about taking a photo of Gumdrop every month on her "month birthday." We were out of town on the big day this time around. I actually remembered to make a print out but forgot to take the picture until she was already ready for bed! She's stinkin' cute! What she's up to:

Pulling herself up on things: the pack-n-play, bed, coffee tables

Eats half a jar of baby food and then starts hitting at it. She wants REAL food!
She loves: peaches, pears, watermelon, plums, bananas, green beans, turkey, yogurt, and carrots. Actually, the only thing she hasn't liked are green peas. She gags on them!

Loves music and loves to dance

Loves to ride in her stroller

Loves to swim

Puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. She does not discriminate. She will eat hair, bugs, grass, gum wrappers (yep, that's right--thanks for dropping that on the floor Lollipop), and I found an entire cashew in her mouth the other day that someone dropped. My other two would stop and inspect things first. This kid does not. She puts everything directly in her mouth. I'm sad to say that I have had to use my training from way back in the day. I have "finger swiped" more food than I care to think about. One day a few weeks ago I had to give her the heimlich maneuver (thank goodness I remembered how to do it on a baby) when she choked. I never got whatever it was out-she swallowed it. She literally turned blue. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life! Can I just say thank you to my wonderful friend and PNP Jennifer for calming crazy mommy down?

I could go on for days describing her wonders.......

Trip pictures coming soon!
